Allen W. Lee

ALLEN W. LEE Allen W. Lee, beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on July 15, 2011. Mr. Lee was born on August 5, 1926 in Dolores to William Hartley Lee and Irene Emma Lee, early settlers of the Dolores area. He was raised in the mountains of Rico where he loved to roam. Mr. Lee volunteered and proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. Mr. Lee married Nancy Ann Simmons on June 30, 1948. Together, they raised five children in Colorado Springs, Colo. where Mr. Lee was a civil servant for over 33 years. His career included 26 years at the United States Air Force Academy. The Lee's returned to Dolores upon his retirement in 1983. He served on the Dolores town board and volunteered at the town visitor's center. Mr. Lee loved the "Galloping Goose", all things locomotive and he enjoyed sharing his enthusiasm with others. Mr. Lee had a strong devotion to his family and through the years cared for several aunts in Dolores. Mr. Lee was greatly loved and respected by his children and those who knew him. He will be dearly missed. Surviving Mr. Lee are his wife, Nancy Ann of Dolores; his sister, Callie Maxine Miller of Grand Junction, Colo.; his children, Victor O. Lee of Dillon, Colo., Paul D. Lee and wife, Kathy R. of Dolores, Kenneth E. Lee and wife, Wendy of London, England, and Laurie A. Seab and husband, R. Scott of Arvada, Colo.; by five grandchildren; and by three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Russell G. Lee in 1980. No services are planned at this time. Memorial contributions can be made in Allen's name to the Alzheimer's Association Colorado Chapter Southwest Office, 701 Camino Del Rio, Durango, Colo. 81301.
