ALFRED HEMP WALL SR. Funeral services for lifelong Towaoc resident Alfred Hemp Wall Sr. will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 13 at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Cortez Cemetery. Mr. Rick Wells will officiate. Visitation has been scheduled for Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ertel Chapel. Alfred was born June 16, 1922 in McElmo, Colo. the son of Harry Wall and Effie Hemp. He passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. Alfred was a lifelong cattleman and he was proud of his work. He spent many years hauling water and cattle for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe. Alfred held a seat on the Tribal Council and enjoyed his time in that capacity. He liked attending Sundance and Beardance. Alfred belonged to the Native American Church. In his free time, Alfred enjoyed feather work and hunting. Surviving Alfred are his children, Douglas Wall, Alfred Wall Jr., Juanita Wall, Lyndreth Wall, Orrin Wing and Lisa Jacket all of Towaoc; by his sister, Leora Wall Knight of Towaoc; and by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Alfred was preceded in death by his parents; by his companion, Pearl Laner; by his children, Serenus Wall, Alberta Wall Kanip, Jaclyn Jacket Nephi, Darlene House, and Elvin Wall; and by his siblings, Julian Root, Steve Root, Alwin Wall, Virginia Root and Robert Root.
