ALEX H. GALLEGOS Funeral Mass for lifelong Cortez resident Alex H. Gallegos will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, September 7 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Cremation will follow the services. Reverend Pat Valdez, C.R. will officiate. Visitation has been scheduled for Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel. Rosary services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Alex was born October 6, 1948 in Cortez the son of Adonais and Mary Teodorita (Martinez) Gallegos. He passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Southwest Memorial Hospital at the age of 63. Alex spent time working as a carpenter on the McPhee dam project. As a younger man, Alex enjoyed playing baseball and softball. He also loved to fish and complete woodworking projects. Surviving Alex are his children, Alex Gallegos and wife, Tiffany of Cortez, Michelle Schoenthaler of Buckeye, Ariz., and Dominic Gallegos and wife, Jenny of Spokane, Wash.; and his companion, Jenny Garcia. Alex also leaves behind his grandchildren, Amanda Gallegos, Cody Gallegos, Orianah Gallegos, Ryan Schoenthaler, and Kaitlin Schoenthaler; and his siblings, Toby Gallegos and Sharon Duncan, Phil Martinez and wife, Maxine, Mary Ann Miera and Raphael Balderrama, Larry Gallegos and Kathy Butler, Leonard Gallegos and companion, Ed Lantz, Ernestine Gallegos and Gilberto Olivas, and Carmen Gallegos and Joe Gomez. Alex was preceded in death by his parents; by his son, Joseph Gallegos; and by his siblings, Josephine Mott and Stella Lopez. Memorial donation or contribution in Alex' name may be made at Vectra Bank.
