ALBERT FRANKLIN BUFFINGTON Graveside services for lifelong area resident Albert Franklin Buffington will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 11 at the Peel Cemetery in rural Dove Creek. Albert was born on April 18, 1935 in Dove Creek, the son of Fred George and Ida Marie (Knuckles) Buffington. He passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at his residence at the age of 71. Surviving Albert are his children, Cora Monarco and husband, Michael of Cortez, Paul Buffington and wife, Loretta of Lake Jackson, Tex., Barbara Johnson and husband, Larry of Maple Valley, Wash., Darryl Buffington and wife, Sharon of Cortez; and his step-son, Cecil Thurman and wife, Tammi of Mancos. He also leaves behind his sisters, Lola Lewis of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carolyn Crawley and husband, Ed of San Diego, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a large extended family. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Marie Osbourne, Daulton, Guy, and James Buffington; and one grandson, Ronnie James Johnson. Memorial contributions may be made in Albert’s name to the American Lung Association in honor of the Uranium Miners, 61 Broadway, NY, NY 10006.
