Memorial services for Dolores resident Alan Lamar Rowe will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 31, 2020 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Pastor Marvin Graves will officiate.
Alan was born February 23, 1948 in Fruita, CO the son of Herman Lamar and Lucile L. (Bratton) Rowe. He passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020 at Vista Grande Inn at the age of 71.
Alan lived in Pueblo, CO until 1960 when he moved to Cortez, CO with his family. He attended M-CHS and graduated in 1966. After joining the Navy CB’s in August, 1969 he served in Vietnam and Okinawa. Upon returning home he went to school to become a Farrier and soon married Rickie Ray on July 31, 1971 in Cortez. They had two sons, Shannon and Shelby Rowe. Alan started working in the oil fields, but also continued to shoe horses. His job as a rig superintendent allowed him to travel around the world until he retired in 2014. Alan always had a love of animals and continued to stay involved in ranching and farming after his retirement. You could always count on Alan for an interesting story and a good joke. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving Alan are his wife of 48 years, Rickie Ann (Ray) Rowe of Dolores, CO; and his sons, Shannon Rowe and Shelby Rowe both of Arriola, CO; ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Alan was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Byron Rowe.
