AGNES VERONICA HAVRAN Funeral services for longtime Cortez resident, Agnes Veronica Havran will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 1 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Father Derrek D. Scott will officiate. Interment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery. A rosary prayer vigil will be held Sunday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church. Agnes was born in Jarrell, Texas on Feb. 4, 1925 the daughter of Frank Joe Viktorin Sr. and Marcella (Zrubek) Viktorin. She passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Durango on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004. Agnes was 79 years old. On Feb. 21, 1949 Agnes married Bernard F. Havran Sr. in Corn Hill, Texas. Together they shared 55 years of marriage until Benny's death in June of this year. Shortly after their marriage Benny and Agnes made their home in Cortez. Benny joined his father in the dry cleaning business and at different times Agnes could be found behind the counter helping out. Agnes was a devoted member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and belonged to the Catholic Daughters. She was also a member of P.E.O. and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Both Agnes and Benny enjoyed serving as volunteers for the Colorado Welcome Center. Agnes was a treasure, so vibrant, compassionate and loving. She loved people and made friends everywhere she went. Her family, friends and community will miss the warmth of her presence. Surviving Agnes are her children, Bernard F. Havran, Jr. and his wife, Lindsay of Mancos, Janet Havran of Basalt, Colo., Dave Havran and wife, Tomi of Yukon, Okla., Mary Havran of Durango, Colo. Nancy Havran of Fairfax, Va., and Karen Havran of Portland, Ore.; and nine grandchildren. Her sister, Dorothy Klepac and husband, Bill of Jarrell, Texas; brother, Frankie Viktorin and wife, Dolores, of Austin, Texas; sister-in-law, Patricia Viktorin of Dayton, Texas, and brother-in-law, Norland Havran of Longmont, Colo. also survive Agnes. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Agnes Havran with First National Bank. The family invites you to join them following the services in celebrating Agnes’ life at St. Margaret Mary Parish Hall from 12:00 – 1:30 p.m.
