ADELA VALDEZ GARCIA Funeral Mass for Adela Valdez Garcia, a longtime Mancos resident, will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 10 at St. Rita Catholic Church in Mancos. She will be buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery next to her first husband and father of her children. The Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at St. Rita. Adela was born August 12, 1914 in Gallina, N.M. She went to be with our Lord on July 4, 2013 at the age of 98. In 1943 Adela married Rosenaldo Valdez. Five years later in 1948 the Valdez family moved to Mancos, Colo. where she remained a Mancos resident for 52 years. To this union two daughters, Olivia Cutler and Antonia "Toney" Dvorak; and two sons, Delfido Valdez and Alfredo Valdez were born. From her children Adela was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Orlando, Randy, Mike, and Danial Lobato, David Miera, Ross Countess, Lisa, Joline and Joe Ross, Isebel Valdez, Renae, Johnny and Jason Valdez; and 10 great grandchildren. Some years after Rosenaldo's death in November 1974, Adela married Ernest Garcia. "Our Mother will always be remembered as a fire cracker!"
