ABRAHAM JOSEPH JACKSON Memorial services for longtime Dolores resident, Abraham Joseph Jackson will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 26 at the American Legion. Interment services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 3 at Pleasanton Memorial Gardens in Pleasanton, Calif. Joe was born on February 13, 1928 In Leon, Kans. the son of Abraham Joseph and Myrtle Ballinger (Hawn) Jackson. He passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 at his home in Dolores at the age of 77. A Navy veteran, Joe was a member of the American Legion. He was an avid reader and historian who learned about the history of each place he lived in. Some favorite pastimes of Joe’s were hunting and watching movies. Surviving Joe are his children, Wally Jackson and wife, Jain of Corralitos, Calif., Cary Jackson of Fort Collins, Colo., Teresa Stine and husband, Eric of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Wade Jackson and wife, Lauren of Pleasanton, Calif. He leaves eight grandchildren, Wally Jackson, Jr., Jennifer Jackson, Matthew Jackson, Celeste Jackson, Giorgia Terry, Ian Terry, Chelsea Jackson, and Connor Jackson; and his siblings, Loral Jackson and husband, Roland, and Arlin Dean Jackson. Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife of 40 years, Vaden Jesteen Jackson; and his siblings, Viola Jackson and Roy Jackson. Memorial contributions can be made in Joe’s memory to Hospice of Montezuma or to the American Legion.
