Abe Ben Maestas

ABE BEN MAESTAS A memorial Mass for former area resident, Abe Ben Maestas will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Dolores. Father Derrek Scott will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the Cortez Cemetery with military honors provided by Ute Mountain American Legion Post #75. A Rosary service has been scheduled for Monday night at 6 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. The son of Joseph Dolores and Maria Teodorita (Gurule) Maestas, Abe was born on April 2, 1920 in Mancos. He passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Farmington, N.M. at the age of 85. Surviving Abe are his son, Ronnie Maestas of Farmington; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his children, Terry Maestas and Darlene Maestas; and all of his brothers and sisters.
